PROGRAM INITIATIVES
Making A Difference
Helping The Community
Getting Ahead (GA)
GA empowers women participants as investigators of their personal circumstances and their communities' social and economic environment. Additionally, this program is designed to reach out to women in prison and women re-entry programs. GA can be offered to male participants in all male classes. In Cherokee County the 16 modules are offered twice a week for 8 weeks. GA is offered 1-2 times a year.
Reinforcing our Commitment
Christian Women's Job Corps of Cherokee County (CWJC)
CWJC is a 10-week program, which exists to empower women to experience spiritual, personal, and professional. CWJC is a holistic and strength-based program offering job readiness, computer literacy, life skills, financial literacy, health and nutrition. Participates experience enrichment through speakers, projects, and mentors. Success can be:
Earning a living wage,
Becoming restored spiritually,
Healing broken relationships,
Creating healthy generational traditions
CWJC offers a Fall and Spring semester. Open registration is ongoing.
EM-Food-POWER
Our food production program teaches program participants and community residents how to grow food. Women, children, and men will learn to grow by participating in the community garden project, which is an ongoing project to help our community.
When women and families have the knowledge and skills to produce food, they have control over supplementing their household food purchases, they increase their overall buying power, income stability, and promote healthy eating habits. All participants in YOU! EMPOWER's Core Programs will participate in Level 1 of the EM-Food-POWER program.
Level 1: Community Garden Project
Level 2: Residential/Plot Garden
Level 3: Small Business/Entrepreneurship
We collaborate with the community at large, businesses, educational institutions, public health, healthcare agencies, churches, diverse agencies, and organizations, including children and youth programs.
Helping The Community
Lead to Learn is a 4- 6 weeks program designed to take job skills and life skills to the next level by providing participants with information, tools, and resources to empower themselves on becoming
entrepreneurs or small business owners. Mentors are recruited for this program. The magic of lead to learn is the invaluable learning, which occurs as participants embrace the role of leaders. The program is designed as a stand-alone or the next phase after GA or CWJC programs.
Community Garden
The community garden project will allow YOU! EMPOWER participants and the residents of Jacksonville to explore options for supplementing their household food purchases, increase their overall buying power, income stability, and promote healthy eating habits. Community gardens help promote a healthy environment and quality of life.
A variety of food production will be introduced in the garden. Planting will include greens, lettuces, root vegetables, edible flowers, herbs, staple vegetables, fruit and vines. The garden will have roses, sunflowers, and other aesthetic features. Our vision is for the garden to be one of a kind in our local community.
We value all women in their uniqueness and awesome contributions to their communities
